Little substance

Very elementary. Not a lot of content. Lots of contemporary terminology that is used by public speakers but no one else. Feels like made up words for old concepts to make it sound fresh and hip. No explanations. Think - flashy young conference speaker who gets you all fired up with cool new stuff only for you to realize later that he didn't actually say anything of substance.

Groundbreaking in 2005, much less so in 2015.

My recommendation is to pass on this book as its largely filled with hype and discussions that were more appropriate in 2005 rather than 2015. The themes of digital and disruption have moved well beyond the assertions discussed in this book. There are much better and more relevant books to invest your time with.
If you are interested in reading about the deeper economic and structural impact of digital I suggest reading The Second Machine Age. A more academic understanding of disruption can be found in Big Bang Disruption. Treatments of digital in a particular industry, The Digital Doctor in healthcare is a good example. New ways to think about the digital economy -- Zero-to-One.
The topics of the chapters appear great: transformation, trust, transparency, innovation, experience, etc, but there treatment is rather shallow and oriented more like a motivational talk rather than practitioner learning and advice. There is little new here, particularly now that we are well into the second decade of digital.
