Amazing.

I have to say, im not usually a fan of romantic novels, but i came across a magazine advertisement of Tell Me Lies. Since i was making a trip to the library anyway, i figured i'd check it out and see if i liked it. I absolutely fell in love with it. I love Jennifer Crusie's style of writing. I continued to check out her books one by one and I became more and more devoted to her characters. They seem so real and alive. People that I can relate to, not those perfect heroines that you usually find in novels. Two thumbs up. Keep it up, Jennifer.

Such a witty and romantic novel has made me love each and every character in her book...the way her discriptions of the characters feelings are so true and believable and most of all very romantic which every woman wants in her life. Keep up the great job!

Sadly, this set is only average!

Being the romantic reader that I have become through the past few years (and bored with all the same old same old) a friend suggested I purchase this set by Jennifer Crusie. Sadly, I was disappointed. The stories are average at best. I was expecting something grand...the joke was on me. Ms. Cruise is an okay writer but far from sizzling! DISAPPOINTED!

A very good instruction manual

This book describes in clear detail how to properly bind a book for maximum durability. It includes details on case bindings (the easiest and weakest), library bindings (one of the strongest), flexible and sunk-cord bindings (traditional), and limp bindings. Although the author makes much about having the right tools, his descriptions are clear enough that one can improvise. With this book, I was able to make a book from paper, boards, and leather that came out quite well on my first try.

A "Must Have" Book for the Serious Bookbinder

Of the many popular books in print today on bookbinding, this one is by far the most comprehensive. It reads like a graduate level textbook and must be studied carefully; it isn't conducive to casual reading. Many of the sentences are difficult to understand and must be thought about for awhile to figure out. Nevertheless, I wouldn't want to undertake a new step in the binding process without first reading what this book has to say. I strongly recommend it for the serious student of bookbinding.

Superb reference book

This book definitely is not for a beginning bookbinder. It is, however, a superb reference book. It discusses, in detail, a vast number of topics -- some not discussed by many other books on the subject -- in a very readable style. This is one of the most useful, and most referred to, books on bookbinding that I own.

Further Directions on How to Make Money in Stocks using IBD

This book is an elaboration on the investment techniques in Mr. O'Neil's prior book, How to Make Money in Stocks. The elaboration focuses on additional insights into avoiding losses and using technical analysis (examining stock price and volume charts) to pick optimal stocks and times to buy and sell. If you haven't already read How to Make Money in Stocks, this book will lack context. I suggest that you not read this book until you have read that one. If you have read that one, this book will be valuable to you only if you plan to do your own stock picking and wish to use the Momentum Growth Investing model that Mr. O'Neil recommends in that book, and supports in Investors Business Daily. If this book is not yet right for you, based on these qualifications, you need read no further.

If this book fits, then, let me go on to provide some caveats. First, it is often hard to limit your losses in the kinds of stocks recommended by this technique. Following a company warning about earnings, it is not unusual for these stocks to fall 15-40 percent without ever trading at any price in between. So your losses may well be larger than he suggests here.

Second, technical analysis is a field that is filled with ambiguity. Your success in reading charts will not be as good as these examples suggest. Many academic studies fail to find any value in technical analysis.

Third, the kind of stocks that are recommended can perform very poorly if the market goes through a prolonged drop in valuation (as last occurred from 1973-1975). You will be buying stocks that are trading at enormous multiples. You could experience more sustained losses than Mr. O'Neil suggests in such a changed market environment, if it were to recur.

Fourth, few individuals have the discipline to adopt and follow a philosophy like this over a long enough time period to be successful.

Fifth, if you are curious, it doesn't hurt to look. But remember that over most time periods 90 percent of professional investors do not match the market averages. And they have a lot of advantages you don't have. Be sure to also look at John Bogle's, Common Sense About Mutual Funds, to get the other side of the story.

Having heard the caveats, let me say that Mr. O'Neil's advice is basically sound, well articulated, easy to follow, and balanced. It will make good reading for those who want to move toward developing the skills needed to be a self-directed investor in growth stocks being pushed along by earnings and investor momentum.

Good promotion for their website!

This book is basically promotional material for the company's website. Although it contains some very good information, you have to get past the 1-2 self promotion references on each page. I was also a bit turned of by the lack of content. The book has 173 pages in it, but only about 90 have content. The rest are blank or `Summaries'. If you have money to burn, this may not be a bad book to have, but keep in mind most companies will give this type of material away for free for promotional purposes. Not charge you for it!

Be useful to God

Lots of nuggets here. Chuck Smith packs an amazing study into relatively few pages. Our Men's Group used this as a basis for a 7 week study - it felt like drinking from a fire hose!
If you want be useful to God, to be one whom He uses mightily, then this little book will be a great resource.

An old friend is back

Haven't been able to read this series since it originally came out by ZEBRA publishing years ago. Hope they release the rest in the series. The old men's adventure line of books that ZEBRA put out like C.A.D.S., Depth Force, The Black Eagles, Saigon Commandos and Doomsday Warrior have been gone far to long. Let's bring them back.

Awesome ideas & technology, great characters, fun & campy 90's action!

I highly recommend C.A.D.S. 1-3 (especially C.A.D.S. 3: Tech Commando). Books 1 & 2 are four stars and fun to read, book 3 is one of the very best sci-fi books I've ever read (and is an excellent five star stand alone title). If you like manly men in exo-suits destroying bad guys in the name of freedom, this is the series for you!

Edit: I don't suggest reading books 4-12, because they get depressing and very weird.

About the Author
David Damrosch is Professor of English and Comparative Literature at Columbia University. Professor Damrosch's most recent publication is What Is World Literature? (2003), but he is perhaps best known as the general editor of The Longman Anthology of British Literature and of The Longman Anthology of World Literature (2004). From 2001 to 2003 he was President of the American Comparative Literature Association.

Domrosch surveys the territory, but he doesn't really have an idea uniting his book. I wasn't impressed. Yes, big schemes are reductive and always end up getting torn down, but this book is too close to an unstructured stream of details.

About the Author

Jill Dearman as been a fascinated student of the signs and planets since childhood. She has written professionally about astrology for numerous publications since 1990. The study of the stars led her to the study of human nature, and she has worked volunteer or part time as an HIV counselor throughout the 1990s.

She is also a playwright, screenwriter, and filmmaker, with many lurid credits to her name. Her short film The Great Bravura, a magician's tale, has been screened at several festivals, and she is currently developing a feature-length version of the story, which she hopes to film in the twenty-first century.

She spins her web in New York city, but in her frequent moments of pomposity views herself as a "citizen of the world."

This Book is the Cat's Meow!

When I heard that Jill Dearman -- the Paul Lynde of astrologers -- had published queer guide books for men and women, I rushed out and bought both versions. (No, I'm not planning a sex change -- I'm a modern lesbian with lots of gay male friends who I know could benefit from Jill's dicey astrological insights.) As my partner and I raced through our respective and collective sections (me, Cancer; her, Aquarius), we found ourselves laughing out loud, both at how Ms. Dearman had pegged us from afar and her meow-cat way of putting it. Either Jill Dearman has an astrological window into our souls or a mirror pointed up our skirts, and I'm not sure which vision scares me, or delights me, most. These books are as much a delight read out loud at dinner parties as they are in the privacy of your own bedroom. Now that I know the basics of my astrological personality (and that of my beloved), I can't wait to hear further from the Diva Dearman on the more complex astrological points of me and my sign. In the meantime, I'm happy to give a high recommendation to these hysterical books from that starry-eyed sooth-sayer of the human soul, Madame Dearman.

Fun and informative

It's a fun read. I don't know much about astrology, and now I know more. Some of it felt very true. It's well written, funny and irreverent but still quite respectful of the topic. The day it arrived I had a drinks night with some friends and we had fun drinking and reading about ourselves, currents and ex's.

I don't know much about astro stuff and now I know a little more. This is a good introduction and fun book. The night I got took it out with some friends and we passed it around over drinks reading about currents and exs. Some of it struck me as jarringly true.
